Black Kyanite Blade

Kyanite is a metamorphic mineral that forms long blade like crystals. It is typically blue in colour and belongs to the aluminosilicate mineral family. Often found in metamorphic pegmatites and sedimentary rock. A key identification factor for kyanite is it's anisotropic properties. This is essentially where a crystal will display two different hardnesses depending on it's crystal structure. 

Black kyanite is a rarer form of kyanite as kyanite rarely forms colours other than blue.
