Sodalite is a royal blue tectosilicate mineral member of the sodalite group (alongside hauyne, nosean, lazurite and tugtupite). Although not discovered by Europeans until 1811, sodalite was widely used as currency in Peru during the Caral civilization (3000-1800B.C)
